MTC Articulation Agreements
Articulation Agreements are partnerships between four-year colleges and universities tied to specific degree programs. Articulation agreements simplify the complexity of determining what courses to take, eliminating the guesswork regarding transferability. Following these agreements should save students time and money.
To choose an articulation agreement, talk to your advisor or program coordinator about the college or university you want to attend.

Transfer FAQs
Bridge Program FAQs
Bridge Programs ease the transfer experience for students. MTC students in a Bridge Program may participate in activities and special events at the partner college in addition to receiving information on admissions, financial aid, scholarships, and support programs.
Still have questions? Contact our bridge program coordinator.
- What is a Bridge Program?
-
Midlands Technical College Bridge programs provide students who are interested in transferring to certain four-year colleges and universities a clear pathway and supportive activities which enhance transfer success. MTC has established Bridge programs with several colleges and continues to explore additional opportunities with other colleges. Students in Bridge programs generally experience a seamless transition when transferring and greater success after transfer.
- Which schools have Bridge Programs with MTC?
- Do I have to take a full two years at MTC to participate in a Bridge Program?
-
No. Bridge students must be enrolled for a minimum of 30 semester hours of college-level coursework to earn the GPA required by the desired academic program at the receiving college. Other students may choose to earn an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree at MTC prior to transfer.
- How can I participate in a Bridge Program?
-
There are two basic means of qualifying for a Bridge program. One way is for the desired four-year college to identify you as a potential bridge candidate. If you applied for admission to the transfer institution but were denied admission, then you could be referred to MTC as a Bridge Program candidate. Another means of qualifying is for you to apply to MTC and let the MTC Bridge Coordinator know that you want to participate in a Bridge program.
- What perks are available for Bridge Program participants?
-
Bridge students are eligible to participate in certain sports and extracurricular activities at their destination school. Ask your advisor what perks you're eligible for!
- How can I be sure that my credits from Midlands Technical College will transfer?
-
A benefit of being a Bridge student is that it can provide you with a seamless transition from MTC to your intended institution. In addition, MTC has transfer advisors who maintain close working relationships with many four-year colleges and universities. You should work closely with your academic advisor at MTC and the admissions/advisement personnel at the college to which you are planning to transfer.
- Will developmental courses count in the 30 credit hours I need for transfer?
-
No. Placement in developmental (DVS) courses is based on your performance on the college placement test. These pre-college courses will strengthen your academic skills to help you be successful in college-level courses and earn the GPA required for transfer. Only college level courses (101 or higher) are counted in the 30 credit hours for transfer.
Financial Aid FAQs
- I am eligible for a LIFE Scholarship. How much money will I receive at MTC, and can I take my LIFE Scholarship with me when I transfer?
-
LIFE Scholarship recipients at MTC can receive a maximum award of up to $5,000 per year (Fall and Spring semesters) for two years, not to exceed the cost of tuition for 30 credit hours per year. To be eligible to continue the LIFE Scholarship the next year, you must complete a minimum of 30 semester hours of college level (101 or higher) work and earn a minimum 3.0 GPA each academic year to continue your LIFE eligibility to the next year.
- What other financial resources does MTC provide?
-
MTC offers federal aid such as Title IV Pell Grants, SEOG, Federal Work-Study, and Academic Competitiveness Grants. MTC also provides state aid such as LIFE Scholarships, South Carolina Need-Based grants and SC Lottery Tuition Assistance. Students may also be eligible for Midlands Technical Education Foundation Scholarships and other financial resources. For more information see Financial Aid.
