TRiO Student Support Services

TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) is an academic success program 100% funded by the US Department of Education.  To qualify, MTC students must meet specific federal criteria listed below.   While students may apply at any point of their MTC admission process, they are encouraged to do so early in their college education. Once selected into SSS, students work closely with their SSS advisor to complete their chosen program path. Ultimately, TRIO SSS is designed to support its students in completing their associate's degree, diploma, or certificate program, and/or transferring to a 4-year college or university. Enrollment in TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is limited, so apply early for this effective academic resource at MTC, TRIO SSS. 

  • 1st generation students (students' parents do not have a four-year college degree) and/or
  • Students with limited family income (typically Pell grant recipients qualify) and/or
  • Individuals with a diagnosed disability registered with the MTC Counseling and Career Services
  • MTC students enrolled in an associate degree, diploma, or certificate program and enrolled in college-level classes (ENG 100, MAT 101/152 and no reading class required) 
  • Academic advising for some academic program areas
  • Individualized academic counseling, career planning/exploration, and success tools
  • Academic mentoring (available for specific courses)
  • Computers dedicated for SSS student use (and free printing for classes)
  • Personalized guidance for students interested in the 4-year college transfer path, virtual and in-person college visits
  • Assistance renewing/completing the FAFSA
  • Scholarship opportunities (MTC has an SSS scholarship.)
