TRiO Student Support Services

TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) is an academic success program 100% funded by the US Department of Education. To be eligible for the program, a student must be a citizen or permanent resident of the US, enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an associate degree/certificate program, and meet one or more of the program eligibility requirements.

TRIO SSS is designed to support its students in completing their associate's degree, diploma, or certificate program and/or transferring to a 4-year college or university. Students must be enrolled in college-level classes (ENG 100, MAT 101/152 or higher; reading not required). Students who have previously earned a degree (Associate or Bachelors at any college) are not eligible for the program

Eligibility
  • Is a first-generation college student (neither parent has obtained a four-year bachelor degree); and/or
  • Meets the US Department of Education taxable income level listed in application; and/or
  • Is registered and or approved with MTC’s Counseling and Career Services to receive accommodations
Services
  • Academic advising for some academic program areas
  • Individualized academic counseling, career planning/exploration, and success tools
  • Academic mentoring (available for specific courses)
  • Computers dedicated for SSS student use (and free printing for classes)
  • Personalized guidance for students interested in the 4-year college transfer path, virtual and in-person college visits
  • Assistance renewing/completing the FAFSA
  • Scholarship opportunities (MTC has an SSS scholarship.)
