What are the steps I need to take to become an MTC student?

First, choose a program!

If you are an academic student, please see Enrollment Steps for step-by-step instructions on how to apply and enroll.

If you are a training student taking courses but not expecting college credit – you do not need to apply to MTC! You can simply register online directly from the program page.

Does it cost anything to apply to MTC?

Academic students must pay a non-refundable application fee of $35 when submitting their admissions application.

There is no application fee for Training students.

What types of financial aid are available at MTC?

Students in need of financial aid assistance can receive it via scholarships, loans, grants, or federal work study. To learn more about your options for assistance, please visit Financial Aid.

What Academic programs does MTC offer?

MTC offers 150 programs in 8 schools of study that lead students to fulfilling and rewarding careers. Academic students can graduate from MTC with an Associate Degree or transfer to a four-year college to complete their Bachelor's Degree.

Learn more about transfer and bridge programs.

What Training programs does MTC offer?

MTC's training programs (sometimes called Continuing Education) include individual courses, certificates, and full certification programs. MTC has also developed 40+ QuickJobs certificates, which are designed to quickly prepare students for a new career in high-demand industries.

What is the deadline for an admissions application?

Applications for academic students need to be submitted by the following dates:

     Fall Semester – June 1st
     Spring Semester – November 1st
     Summer Semester – April 1st

It is recommended that the admissions process be started at least three weeks prior to the start of registration for the term the student wishes to enroll.

Training students can enroll year-round and do not have to apply to the college.

Do I have to take a placement test?

Academic students must take a placement test before being admitted to register for classes. You may exempt this test if you have completed certain college level English and Math courses from a regionally accredited college with grades of C or higher, or if you have comparable AP scores.

Training students do not generally have to take placement tests, although there may be some exceptions. See your program page for more details.

Does MTC offer online courses?

Yes. Many of our programs have options for online or hybrid courses (courses that take place mostly online, with some in-class elements). First, find the program you want to take, then check the program page for details about how many of your courses can be completed online.

MTC also offers a few degree programs that can be completed entirely online. Online Learning
