MTC to Coastal Carolina University

Coastal Carolina University has awarded credit for over 15,000 courses for approximately 3,000 students from Midlands Technical College. While at Midlands Technical College, students can earn credits toward their associate degree while receiving guidance related to transfer admission, credit evaluation, financial aid, and merit award opportunities from CCU’s Transfer Team. To be considered for transfer admission to CCU, applicants should have at least 24 credit hours of transferable credit, while it is anticipated that students will spend at least a full year at Midlands Technical College. Students meeting CCU’s freshmen admissions requirements may transfer after one semester at Midlands Technical College. Both CCU and Midlands Technical College promote associate degree attainment to interested students by encouraging students to either complete their associate degree at MTC or by transferring credits back to MTC from CCU. Transfer students accepted to the University with an earned Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree from Midlands Technical College will have all core curriculum requirements waived. CCU has a partnership agreement with the South Carolina Technical College System, which works to provide a seamless transfer process to increase and encourage access for two-year college students to CCU by offering guaranteed admission to Associate of Arts or Associate of Science earners who satisfy the non-academic admissions review portion of the admissions application.

CCU offers four degree completion programs for students transferring in with an earned Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree, three of which are online; Marketing, Hospitality, Resort, and Tourism Management, and Health Administration. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing completion program at CCU is not a traditional program leading to nursing licensure, as students admitted to the program must have: 1) An active license as a registered nurse (R.N. in South Carolina or reside in a compact state with multistate privileges), and be license-eligible with a license required before progressing to the second semester, and 2) Graduated from an accredited nursing program with a grade of 'C' or better in all nursing courses. Current nursing students may apply for admission while in their final semester of an AAS or Diploma nursing program.

Coastal Carolina University is ranked No. 5 on the Best Value Schools (South) list released by U.S. News & World Report for 2022, the fifth consecutive year CCU has been ranked in the top six. Transfer students who have a minimum of 30 transferable credit hours may also qualify for Merit Awards. For transfer awards, the cumulative collegiate GPA, which includes all college coursework attempted will be used to determine eligibility.
