South Carolina Residential Builder License Preparation

Overview

Prepare to become a licensed residential builder in the state of South Carolina. This program is designed for residential construction laborers or site managers with at least a year of construction-site experience.

In five months, you will prepare to take the Residential Builder and Business Management and Law exams required for licensure in S.C. You will also learn the best practices for site and foundation preparation, general framing, as well as providing oversight for employees and sub-contractors. This program is also an excellent choice for real estate agents, property owners, and residential appraisers to gain a better understanding of building practices and codes.

Learn to lay out and prepare a building site, pour footings and slabs, and build concrete and masonry foundations through classroom presentations and lab demonstrations. Emphasis is placed on approved building methods and estimating procedures.

Licensed Residential Builder

Residential builders act as project managers in the building of homes and renovation or remodeling projects. They supervise construction crews and specialized sub-contractors, prepare bids and estimates for projects, order material, and will work alongside a crew to help lay foundations, frame walls, install doors and windows, put down flooring, and install siding and roofs.
