Field Service Technician

Field service technicians primarily perform hands-on repair, maintenance, and installation of personal computers, computer systems, software, printers, cables, and related equipment. Opportunities in these areas tend to be excellent as employers often report difficulty finding qualified applicants. With experience, computer systems technicians can advance to positions maintaining more sophisticated networking equipment, servers, and more sophisticated peripherals. Experienced workers may become specialists who help diagnose difficult systems problems or work with engineers designing equipment and maintenance procedures. Skilled technicians may also move into sales and customer service positions as well as management and supervisory positions.
