CPR

Overview

In this eight-hour, one-day CPR certification class, you’ll learn lifesaving techniques using the most current guidelines set by the American Heart Association.

Who should get CPR training?

Anyone can benefit from CPR training. According to the American Heart Association, more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of hospitals each year. Immediate CPR can double or triple the chances of survival after a cardiac arrest by keeping the blood circulating until more advanced techniques can be used.

Aspiring health workers should take a Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR course like this one. Current CPR certification is a prerequisite to enter certain Health Care programs at MTC, including our Medical Assisting and Certified Nursing Assistant programs. In many healthcare careers, it’s also necessary to maintain CPR certification on the job.

Job-seekers in other fields such as education, childcare, and corrections may need to be CPR certified as well.

Whether or not you need certification for professional reasons, CPR is a fundamental skill that can equip you to save a life when medical help is not available right away.
