Advanced EMT

This course teaches the concepts and foundation of advanced EMT care in an emergency setting, and prepares students to take the National Registry exam for Advanced EMT certification (NR-AEMT). Previous completion of an EMT course and certification as a national and SC State EMT is required.
Basic IV Therapy

Cardiac Care Technician

The ability to read and recognize heart rhythms is the main function of the cardiac care technician. Students will receive hands-on experience in interpreting heart rhythms and arrhythmias. White scrubs and white closed-toe shoes must be worn to all classes/clinicals. Clinical hours will vary. Prerequisite: Medical Terminology with a grade of C or better and AHA CPR Certified.
Clinical Massage Therapy

Clinical Massage Therapy can take you into the world of healthcare and beyond. Sports medicine, chiropractic, neonatal, geriatrics and health spas have demand for these skills. Offered day and night, this 10-month classroom and clinical program prepares you to sit for the national certification exam and licensure in South Carolina. Major curriculum: anatomy and physiology; clinical massage theory and practice; allied modalities; statutes and history of massage; business practice, ethics, pathology, and CPR. Admission requirements: a high school diploma/GED, or a college degree; complete student health form and current SLED background check required. You must be able to perform physical tasks. Topics include anatomy and physiology of the heart, mechanics of the EKG machine, stress testing, and Holter monitoring. The course consists of 32 hours of classroom training and 24 hours of clinical training. Clinical hours will vary. Prerequisite: Medical Terminology and Cardiac Care with a grade of C or better.

Prerequisite: high school diploma or GED, and WIN assessment tests (Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information, and Locating Information) all with a minimum score of 3 or above. Gynecologic & Obstetric Sonography I

Learn application and scanning methods including transabdominal and endovaginal. Coursework will include information on gynecologic pathology including tumors, pelvic inflammatory diseases and congenital pelvic abnormalities. The use of sonography in the first trimester of pregnancy will be discussed along with the menstrual cycle and its relationship to the sonographic appearance of reproductive organs and surrounding anatomy.
Infiltration Anesthesia for Dental Hygiene Procedures

This participatory clinical course is designed to meet the requirements necessary to sit for the SC Board of Dentistry Exam for infiltration anesthesia. (Dental hygienists licensed in SC may take the course and board exam). Fee includes all materials and equipment, but does NOT include fee for board of dentistry exam. Students must have computer access for online component. On the first day of class, MUST present copies of current CPR and a Hepatitis B TITER. Students without documentation will not be allowed in the course. All students will administer and receive local anesthetic injections. Pregnant students may not participate in this course. Students must submit all online assignments and pass an online pretest with 77% or > prior to first day of class. Students must pass an in class final with 80% or > to pass the course.
