Overview

This DHHS-approved course prepares students to sit for the Nurse Aide Competency Exam. Students receive training in basic nursing care through classroom lectures, simulated lab care, and hands-on clinical experience in a long-term care facility.

As a nursing assistant, graduates can work in-home care, assisted living and long-term care facilities, rehab centers, and acute care hospitals. MTC offers this pathway to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Students can start their health care career as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), helping patients with activities of daily living and other health care needs under the supervision of a nurse. In five to 12 weeks, the student will be prepared to sit for the Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation Services Exam and begin a career working in a professional health care setting environment and with additional training can pursue a career path towards becoming a Patient Care Technician and a Nurse.

CNAs earn a competitive salary, with the opportunity to further their career toward becoming a Patient Care Technician and a Nurse.

Pre Clinical Orientation

This is a mandatory online course with instructions on how to create a Viewpoint account, request a background check, request a drug screening, upload medical documents, obtain uniform and supplies and any other vital clinical information.

Basic Cardiac Life Support for Health Ca

Aspiring health workers should take a Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR courses like this one. Current CPR certification is a prerequisite to enter certain Health Care programs at MTC, including our Medical Assisting and Certified Nursing Assistant programs. In many healthcare careers, it is also necessary to maintain CPR certification on the job. Whether or not you need certification for professional reasons, CPR is a fundamental skill that can equip you to save a life when medical help is not available right away.

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff. The CNA typically works in a long term care facility and performs duties such as feed, bathe, dress, groom, or move patients, or change linens. May transfer or transport patients. Includes nursing care attendants, nursing aides, and nursing attendants.

In the capacity of home health aide, the CNA provides routine individualized healthcare such as changing bandages and dressing wounds and applying topical medications to the elderly, convalescents, or persons with disabilities at the patient's home or in a care facility. Monitor or report changes in health status. May also provide personal care such as bathing, dressing, and grooming of patients.
