SC Governor Henry McMaster Attends Cornerstone Open House Event

Leaders from across the state, including S.C. Governor Henry McMaster, gathered at Midlands Technical College’s Northeast campus to celebrate the opening of the Cornerstone building and take a tour of the facility. The building was created as part of a partnership between Richland County, the South Carolina Department of Commerce, readySC, and Midlands Technical College to increase economic and workforce development in the region.
The open house event, held on November 6, saw Governor McMaster and key leaders from the region take a detailed tour of the 41,000-square-foot facility, highlighting the utility and value the building has to offer. Cornerstone’s first industry partner and occupant, Scout Motors, was also present during the tour. The company is currently making great use of the spaces at Cornerstone as they continue growing their presence here in the state.
Following the guided tour, dignitaries answered questions from media and community stakeholders. Participants included:

The opening of the Cornerstone building, and its use by industry leaders like Scout Motors, is representative of Midlands Technical College and other partners honoring an ongoing commitment to economic and workforce development. "This is a fantastic example," said MTC President Greg Little during the media interview portion of the event. "Everybody coming together to make sure that we create opportunities and pathways for people in the Midlands."
