Prisma Health presented the Midlands Technical College Foundation with a $7,500 donation to benefit the college’s Maverick Market, a free on-campus resource that provides food items and other essentials to support student wellbeing and academic success. The market relies on generous donations that help students stay prepared and fully engaged in their studies.
“By investing in the Maverick Market, we are ensuring that students have food and proper nutrition,” shared Prisma Health Community Relations Manager Drake DelosSantos. “No student should have to worry about where their next meal is going to come from. The only thing they should be worried about is excelling in the classroom.”
Since November 2025, Maverick Market has recorded 2,094 visits, with many of the students being repeat visitors—a clear sign of both ongoing need and the trust students place in this support. Each item donated provides essential support to students balancing classes, work, and daily life.
“It is our hope that Maverick Market lets students know they can be successful here on campus and that we will support them in any way we can,” said MTC President Dr. Greg Little.
Thanks to partners like Prisma Health, and the generosity of community donors, Maverick Market continues to provide students with access to food and has even expanded to be able to offer personal hygiene items on a weekly basis. Investments like this one are critical to helping the college continue its efforts to remove barriers that can stand in the way of academic success.
