Midlands Technical College Brings Midlands Manufacturers Together Through Ready. Set. Hired.
Aug 11, 2026
On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, Midlands Technical College (MTC) Corporate and Continuing Education (CCE) hosted the Ready. Set. Hired. Manufacturing breakfast, bringing together representatives from Scout Motors, Michelin and 10 other manufacturing companies from across the Midlands to discuss workforce needs and opportunities to connect trained talent with local employers.
Ready. Set. Hired. Manufacturing is an accelerated 8–12-week training program that prepares students to move from the classroom to the production floor.
“As the manufacturing sector continues to expand across the Midlands, Ready. Set. Hired. creates an intentional, sustainable talent pipeline that is helping to fill entry-level positions for local employers,” said Midlands Technical College President Dr. Greg Little.
Through the program, students work toward earning a High-Performance Manufacturing Production Technician Certification. The certification comprises four courses: safety, quality practices and measurement, manufacturing processes and production, and maintenance awareness. Upon successful completion of the program, students are guaranteed employer interviews, giving them the opportunity to meet face-to-face with local manufacturing partners seeking to fill entry-level production positions.
Ready. Set. Hired. Manufacturing offers both morning and evening classes at multiple MTC campuses. Limited scholarships and SC WINS funding are also available.
