For students who want the full college experience, there are many ways to get involved. We have an active student body, and throughout the year, we hold free campus-wide events for students, like the Back-to-School Bash, the Soul Food Festival and heritage celebrations. Plus, the annual MTC Showoff at Harbison Theater.
Clubs: MTC has more than 30 student clubs and organizations! Clubs are an easy way to meet new people, have fun, and develop leadership skills that look great on a resume.
Advisory Board: The Student Advisory Board provides students an opportunity to impact MTC’s governance, campus concerns, and student affairs.
Committees: Student members of MTC committees plan and execute events and initiatives for the college, such as registration and graduation.
Honors Societies: Student honor societies, such as Phi Theta Kappa, the National Technical Honor Society, and MTC Ambassadors, recognize academic excellence.
Publications: Student publications, such as the online student newspaper (The Student Newspaper), and the MTC’s literary magazine (Stylus), give students an opportunity to hone writing and editing skills.
Harbison Theater: Discount tickets are available for students and it hosts an annual talent show, MTC Showoff, for students, faculty and staff.
- Community Service
MTC students love to give back. We hold many on-campus events, like blood drives and career day events, and we offer opportunities for students to volunteer through our community partners like United Way of the Midlands and Carolina Children’s Home.
- Opportunities for Entrepreneurs
MTC promotes and supports student entrepreneurship. Programs include the academic Entrepreneurship Certificate Program, the MTC Entrepreneurship Club (MEC), the USC Columbia Technology Incubator Program, which has two available slots for MTC students, and MTC’s Continuing Education FastTrac® program.
