Introduction to General Engineering Technology Instruction
Training Certificate
Overview
This two-part course series is designed to prepare and certify high school teachers to deliver General Engineering Technology (GET) dual enrollment courses. The program provides both technical content mastery and instructional alignment to support effective college-level teaching in a high school setting.
Participants will engage in hands-on and conceptual learning across core engineering and technology domains, including engineering foundations (DC and AC circuits, motors, generators, and magnetism), essential mathematics and physics concepts, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), applied computing, simulation tools, and manufacturing processes. The series also emphasizes dual enrollment instructional alignment to ensure curriculum, assessments, and instructional practices meet postsecondary standards.
Teachers who are interested in participating must be licensed SC Grades 9-12 educators and teach subjects focused on STEM disciplines. There are no required minimum years of teaching for this program. Teachers can be credentialed through 2 pathways:
Path 1 (Automatic Certification Route):
Meet the general requirements
Master's degree with at least 18 credit hours of engineering
Path 2:
Meet the general requirements
Complete the GET Teaching Certificate program
Benefits for Participants:
Earn $1,250 upon successful completion of each summer session*
Reimbursed for successful completion of related software exams such as CAD, Excel, and MATLAB
Summer Session 1 occurs July 6 – July 17, 2026 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Interested teachers must submit their resume and official transcripts. Unofficial transcripts may be accepted.
*Only teachers who participate in the GET Teaching Certificate course will earn the financial reward.
