Full-Stack Web Developer

Overview

In five to six months, you can be working for a company creating websites and web-enabled software systems as a full stack web developer. Earn over $38 an hour on average, using a variety of programming languages to create the environment for everything that web users see and touch. If you are detail-oriented and good with a keyboard, you can train for this creative career as a web developer for companies of every size and industry.
 
Full-stack developers have a wide variety of coding expertise. On the front-end, the full-stack web developer uses a combination of HTML, CSS3, and JavaScript to build everything a user sees and interacts with on a website. On the back-end, they develop the application server and database that make up the foundational structure of a website. Learn to design and support an organization’s website using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and source control with Git.
 
Agile Fundamentals is the most widely used Agile Methodology, SCRUM, for managing software development projects. Upon completing the Agile Fundamentals course, you will be to participate on any project team and understand the Agile roles and responsibilities. Many organizations are changing the way software development projects are implemented. Completing the Agile Fundamentals course will increase your opportunities for IT careers in the software development IT arena.

  • Attend an information session. Information sessions last approximately two hours and are free to attend.
  • Be a South Carolina resident for 12 consecutive months. Applicants will be required to submit documentation for proof of residency (Driver's license, Beginner's permit, or state issued ID).
  • Not be in default on any federal student loans and not owe MTC or any other college monies.
  • Submit an application. You will need to enter your student ID on the application.
  • Scholarship recipients will be in communication with the Program Director responsible for the program for which they applied.
  • Some programs require clean SLED background checks and clean drug/alcohol tests.

On-Campus Traditional. Classes meet on campus.
Virtual 100% online. Meets with a live instructor and classmates on specific days, at specific times. Uses web conferencing software, like Zoom.
Hybrid Some classes on campus. Some classes online or virtual.
Online 100% online. Due dates for projects and assignments. Self-paced work on your time.

Source Control With GIT

Learn about Source Control and using Git to manage code and programming files. Acquire the skills to confidently manage your code on both your personal computer and on remote repositories with GitLab. While GitLab is the Git server you will learn about in this section, all Git servers operate similarly. You will be able to translate the basics you learn in this course to any Git server of your choice. Be ahead of the curve when it comes to version control and understand the foundation of working in a programming environment by pushing and pulling your code within your own repository.

Front End Web Developer

Learn HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to structure web content and create semantically meaningful page structures. Agile Fundamentals

This course provides you with the Agile values and principles to incorporate Agile methodologies into your organization. To be successful in delivering software using Agile methods, you must have a strong and stable agile mindset. This course focuses on being Agile before doing Agile and provides a common foundation for making decisions about the best way to develop software using agile values and principles and introduces you to PMI's Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)®. This course prepares you for the Professional Scrum Master 1 (PSM1) certification. Prerequisites: Familiarity with the software development life cycle (SDLC).
