Welcome, Dr. Quianna Lavant

The Office of Student Affairs welcomes Dr. Quianna C. Lavant to Midlands Technical College as our new Dean of Students. Her first day on campus will be Thursday, May 15, 2025.
Dr. Lavant is a respected professional with a rich higher education background with over a decade of experience. Lavant, an Albany, GA native, brings a wealth of experience and passion to her new role, having contributed significantly to various institutions such as Clark Atlanta University, Mercer University, Florida A&M University and most recently, Albany Technical College as the Director of Enrollment.
She obtained her Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership from Clark Atlanta University; Master of Arts in Professional Communication and Leadership from Georgia Southern University; and Bachelor's in English Language and Literature from Savannah State University. She also holds her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.
Dr. Lavant expressed her excitement about the new role saying, "I'm thrilled to be joining the Midlands Technical College community as the new Dean of Students. It is an honor to be part of a team so deeply committed to student success and growth. As someone who has navigated the challenges of being a first-generation college student, I am passionate about creating pathways for success for students from all walks of life. I look forward to supporting our students by ensuring success, positive outcomes, and creating a welcoming and empowering start. Together, we will continue to foster a vibrant campus experience where every student can thrive."
Dr. Lavant's credentials also include being a former TEDx Savannah Speaker and Executive Producer of TEDx Chandlers Creek, where her topic, "Bridging the Gap Between Self-doubt and Confidence: Educators Can Make a Difference," resonated with many. Her belief that every student deserves a champion, advocate, and adequate resources is a guiding principle of hers.
