Midlands Technical College’s 2026 Maverick Portrait Signing

May 12, 2026

Midlands Technical College (MTC) Art Studio major Rae Bundrick was given the opportunity to design a commemorative Maverick portrait for the college. Bundrick’s digital artwork titled "Et Tu, Blute?” is modeled in the style of classical Roman busts. During MTC’s School of English and Humanities Conference this spring, the event organizers invited Bundrick to sign prints of her artwork to give to faculty and staff.

This marks the first year a student has created a Maverick portrait for the college. Previous artists were faculty member Christy Buchanan with the 2022 acrylic painting “Big Mav on Campus,” and staff member Kimberly Furry with the 2024 acrylic painting “Most Colorful Bull In Town.”

Bundrick has been drawing since she can remember and finds inspiration for her work through her local community and everyday surroundings. She has spent her entire life in South Carolina and graduated from MTC with her associate degree in Spring 2026. Bundrick is working toward becoming a tattoo artist, with her tattoo experience showing through her artwork with bold linework and symbolism.

“I was asked by my teacher to create the Mav portrait, and it was definitely a very fun project. I got complete creative freedom,” said Bundrick. “I got to do whatever I wanted, and I want to be a tattoo artist, so I created something I felt in my soul.”
