Maverick Market officially opens at Midlands Technical College
Jan 13, 2026
Midlands Technical College’s new Maverick Market is officially open. The market allows MTC students to access food items at no charge and “refuel, refresh, and recharge.”
All MTC students can visit the market to grab a quick bite to eat on campus, or they can take items home to fuel their studies.
“Each day, students come to Maverick Market with a simple need: reliable access to food,” said MTC Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Lamar White. “In each space, you will find the words ‘Refuel, Refresh, Recharge.’ That’s because we want students to leave with confidence, focus, and hope for the future.”
All currently enrolled MTC students are eligible to access the market once a week and leave with up to five items per visit. No application or proof of financial need is required, only a valid student ID. Corporate and Continuing Education students can present a program confirmation email to gain access.
There are two Maverick Market locations: Beltline Campus, Richland Hall 103; and Northeast Campus, CET 148.
“Maverick Market helps our students stay focused on learning,” said MTC President Dr. Greg Little. “These welcoming spaces ensure students have access to the nourishment they need to keep moving toward graduation.”
Dr. Little added, “Our community members, faculty, and staff have always given generously to strengthen Mavericks through scholarships and programs. Maverick Market offers a new way to extend that same spirit of support and meet essential needs that allow students to thrive.”
