Overview
The Automotive Heating and Air Conditioning Repair Academic Certificate curriculum at Midlands Technical College provides students with an up-to-date training program that will develop their knowledge of air conditioning repair through hands-on training.
MTC also prepares students to become certified in Heating and Air Conditioning Systems by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (A.S.E.). A.S.E. is nationally recognized by the automotive industry as the foremost organization for professional certification. Certification examinations are administered many times throughout the year at selected Prometric sites throughout the United States.
The South Carolina Automobile Dealers Association's Auto Tech Development Program provides students with scholarships, job placement, and a free set of tools worth almost $10,000. School of Advanced Manufacturing and Skilled Trades (AMST) programs involve hands-on learning in specialized labs, so class sizes are intentionally kept small to ensure safety and individualized instruction. So, AMST programs fill quickly each semester.
Students are encouraged to apply early, complete orientation, and advising as soon as possible to secure a place. Even if immediate placement is not available, advisors will help build a schedule with general education or prerequisite courses.
