Veterans Benefits

MTC is a great place for veterans.

MTC is one of the largest providers of veterans educational benefits to service members and their families in the state —we enrolled more than 1,000 veterans last fall alone. MTC also has several veteran resources and is fully staffed to assist in processing benefits.

What benefits am I eligible for?

Calculate Benefits

Use the GI Bill Comparison Tool to calculate your benefits based on your status and length of service. Check our Financial Aid for Veterans page for additional details and programs.

Tuition Assistance

Military tuition assistance is dependent primarily upon your command. All of our courses, certificates, and QuickJobs are awarded both Continuing Education Units and Clock Hours. Many commands will approve tuition assistance for promotion points, career advancement, and morale purposes. Check with your Education Service Officer (ESO) to find out more, or visit GoArmyEd to request Tuition Assistance online.

VetSuccess On Campus

VetSuccess on Campus (VSOC) is a program through the Veterans Benefits Administration that places an experienced Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor directly on campus to provide assistance and support to Veteran students and their eligible family members. This counselor will serve as a “one-stop liaison” for Veterans on campus. Midlands Technical College is one of 94 VSOC sites and was selected in September 2013.

A VetSuccess on Campus counselor can assist you with:

  • Information on VA benefits such as Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment, education benefits, home loan guaranty, life insurance, etc.
  • Guidance and support while using your VA educational benefits
  • Electing your healthcare benefits with VHA
  • Information and referrals to VA Medical Center & Vet Center
  • Information on submitting a claim for disability compensation
  • Employment information and assistance
  • Information on community resources

Contact a VetSuccess counselor for more details at 803.738.7663.

The South Carolina Commission on Higher Education State Approving Agency has approved Midlands Technical College for veterans education and training (GI Bill).
