Important Dates and Deadlines | Establishing SC Residency
- New Student
If you have never attended a college or university, you are considered a new student. New students just need to follow the general steps to enrollment.
- Career Development Student
A student taking academic courses, but not entering a degree program. They may be taking courses for self-development or as a prerequisite to entering another college.
- Dual Enrollment for High School Students
Includes high school students who are graduating early and students who want to take college courses while they're still in high school.
- International Student
International students are attending MTC under an F-1 student visa from a country outside the United States.
- Returning Student
If you have previously attended MTC, but were not enrolled for the last two terms (other than the summer term) and wish to re-enroll, you are considered a returning student.
- School of Health Care Student
Admissions requirements for all other MTC Health Sciences programs, excluding nursing.
- NROTC Prepatory Program (NPP)
The NROTC Preparatory Program (NPP) is a joint two-year scholarship partnership program between NROTC at USC and Midlands Technical College. Qualified NPP scholarship students will complete their first two years of college coursework at MTC while participating in USC’s NROTC program. MTC coursework will be transferable to USC towards a 4-year degree for students meeting the specified progression requirements.
Students wishing to be considered for this program will be graduating high school students who have never attended an institute of higher learning, who are eligible for financial aid, and who show great potential via grades, character, and extracurricular activities.
Interested students must meet with the NPP Chair to receive a detailed list of requirements and expectations for entry into this two-year scholarship program. - Senior Citizen Students
Individuals 60 years old or older, who are legal residents of South Carolina, may be eligible for free tuition at Midlands Technical College.
- Student Returning from Suspension
Former MTC students returning from a period of suspension should follow these guidelines.

- Student Visiting MTC from Another College
Students at other schools who are taking a class at MTC that they want to transfer back to their original institution.
- MTC Student Taking Courses at Another College
MTC students who are taking a course at another college that they want to transfer back to MTC.
- Nursing Student
Nursing students have some additional admissions requirements, including health prerequisites and background checks.
