Real Opportunities in QuickJobs

Vicki Givens is a 2015 graduate of the QuickJobs Data Analyst program. She credits the MTC QuickJobs scholarship for helping her change careers and making a significantly higher salary. Here is her story in her own words.

“I worked for 18 years in one field, and I hated it. I wanted a career change. I specifically did not want to be in my field anymore.

“Having that feeling at 40 years old was scary. I was miserable, wanted to do something about it, but I was scared.

“So, I just got online and looked up Midlands Technical College. I saw the QuickJobs and thought, ‘Oh, I could do that, and I could potentially get a scholarship.’With my education from MTC, I am literally going anywhere in a career I love

“I was awarded a scholarship, started the Business Analyst program and continued to work full time. I finished the program December 2015 and started my new job February 2016. This time, I was making a higher salary and doing something I loved.

“MTC has changed my life. Thanks to MTC, my life and my daughter’s life is completely different. I went from living paycheck-to-paycheck to building a new home and sending my daughter on a foreign exchange program.

“It’s amazing the difference. The fact that I was brave enough to try inspires my daughter. Now, I have hopes of my daughter going to college.

“My family sees that education is the key. With education, you can do anything; and, with my education from MTC, I am literally going anywhere in a career I love.”
