The Midlands Technical College (MTC) Foundation announced a $50,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation. The funds will be used to provide tuition assistance for veterans and unemployed or underemployed residents of Lexington and Richland to pursue QuickJobs training with Midlands Technical College.

QuickJobs is a program designed for individuals interested in starting a new career, changing careers, or advancing within a current career. The programs provide comprehensive, short-term completion of programs for in-demand jobs in the fields of healthcare, information technology, advanced manufacturing, industrial trades, and transportation. Currently, there are more than 40 QuickJobs training programs, many of which lead to industry-recognized credentials, as well as state and national licensing.

"The scholarship I received for the Business Analyst QuickJobs program has helped me develop the skills and experience that I needed in order to make a complete career transition,” said Bank of America scholarship recipient Vicki Givens. “It is because of this scholarship I was able to completely leave a job that I had outgrown and move into a brand new career. The hands on teaching, and smaller classroom sizes allowed me to have a more personal connection with the tremendous faculty at Midlands Technical College. Thanks to this Bank of America QuickJobs scholarship, I am now a successful full-time clinical data analyst with Palmetto GBA. “

MTC’s QuickJobs program was created in 2007 in response to the growing challenge of filling today’s available jobs with skilled workers. As the changing workplace continues to impact the skills needed for high-growth, high-demand jobs, QuickJobs helps people retool their skills for the new economy.
