Bio

Elena Martínez-Vidal holds an MFA degree and a Certificate of Higher Education Leadership as well as 27 graduate hours towards an MA in English with an Emphasis in Speech Communication from the University of South Carolina (USC). Her undergraduate degree was earned at Dickinson College, PA with a double major in Theatre Arts and French. She has taught at MTC since 1992, first as an adjunct and then hired full-time in 2000. Her disciplines are Speech and Theatre. Elena also has taught at Columbia College (1993-2000) and was a graduate assistant teaching Acting, Public Speaking and Voice and Diction at USC. Elena is currently the Department Chair of Humanities, beginning as Interim in 2004 and becoming Chair in 2006. Elena published several speech exercises with her graduate advisor. She is the web manager for the Carolinas Communication Association and sits on their Executive committee. Elena is also a professional actor and director. She is a company member at Trustus Theatre and is actively involved in theatre in the Columbia area.
