Mack began his teaching and coaching career as a Business Education teacher at Lakewood High School in Sumter, SC. The next year he transferred to Columbia High School, Columbia, SC, where he continued his teaching and coaching career. He also served as Adjunct Faculty of Business & Economics at Benedict College School of Business Administration.
Mack taught Business Education at Brookland-Cayce High School in Lexington Two, Cayce, SC, and continued his coaching career. Currently Mack serves as full-time Reading Faculty and Course Coordinator of the College Study Skills Course at Midlands Technical College, Columbia, SC where he is responsible for teaching Critical Reading and College Study Skills Courses. In this capacity, he also assists the Developmental Studies Dept. Chair as Course-Coordinator for the College Study Skills Courses by providing curriculum development instructional and administrative leadership for the College Study Skills Courses.
During his career, Mack has taught a variety of courses ranging from Advanced Economics & Finance, Strategies for Success, Freshman and Sophomore Seminar, College Study Skills, Reading 100, Introduction to Business, Keyboarding and Introduction to Computer Literacy, Business Computer Applications, and Digital Input Technologies.
In 2008, he was selected by the SC State Department of Education as the subject of a teacher recruitment video that was broadcasted statewide into over approximately 500,000 homes. The same year he was invited as a guest on Time-Warner Cable’s “People to People Talk Show” to discuss teacher recruitment in South Carolina. In the years 2004-2005 and 2005-2006, he was inducted into “Who’s Who among America’s Teachers (Brookland Cayce High School). In 2006-2007, he was a finalist for Teacher of the Year, (Brookland Cayce High School). In the years 2001-2002, and 2003-2004, he was inducted into “Who’s Who among America’s Teacher (Columbia High School) only 5% of America’s teachers ever receive this honor once, while even fewer teachers only 1% receive this honor twice; and a finalist for Teacher of the Year, 2000-2001, Columbia High School. Mack is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. In addition Mr. Mack is frequently called on to encourage our youth as a sought after speaker.
Mack feels the most important purpose in life is being a good steward and shepherd to his daughter.
It is for certain David Mack has kept his tools sharp because God is still using him by finding work for him to do in the field of education.
