Julia Davis grew up in Orangeburg, SC and is a graduate of Orangeburg High School. She graduated cum laude from Winthrop College in 1969 with a B.A. in Mathematics and Home Economics and earned a M.S. degree in Statistics and Algebra from Clemson University in 1971. Julia began her chosen career of teaching in 1969 as a graduate assistant in the Math Department at Clemson and a math tutor for the Clemson Athletic Department. In 1972, she moved to Columbia where she taught 8th grade math and Algebra I & II at R.H. Fulmer Middle School for 12 years before transferring to Brookland-Cayce High School. At BC, she taught Algebra I & II, Algebra II Honors, Math Tech 1 & 2, Exit Exam Math, Discrete Math, SAT Math and AP Calculus AB and BC until retiring in 2009. Julia began teaching at MTC in 2009 and received the Midlands Technical College Mathematics Adjunct Teacher of the Year Award in 2010. She has been involved throughout her teaching career with state textbook adoptions, local and national presentations and workshops. Julia was instrumental in the development and implementation of the TI Graphing Calculator for classroom use. She and her husband have a son and two granddaughters.
