Students will be instructed in reading, writing, math and science as part of the academic curriculum. Enrichment activities will also be provided for these subjects. During the summer, some additional classes such as public speaking and computers will be offered |
Students will learn effective study, test-taking and time-management skills. Individual and group tutoring that supplement current classes will also be provided. |
Students will have access to information on various colleges they are interested in attending. The Upward Bound staff will assist students in completing college application |
Campus visits to several colleges and universities will allow students to determine which type of institution may interest them. |
Students will participate in informative and interesting visits to museums, theatrical productions and other events that will broaden their cultural experience. |
Students will receive information about scholarships, grants, and student loans. The Upward Bound staff will assist students with completing applications and inform them of deadlines. |
Students will have the opportunity to participate in mentoring and shadowing programs. |
Students who are selected to participate in Upward Bound and meet attendance requirements will receive a stipend. |
