What is the cost of a CLEP exam?
There are basically two fees associated with CLEP examinations. Those fees are the registration fee and the CLEP test fee.

The registration fee, if required, is set by and made payable to the CLEP Test Center or institution where the exam will be administered. This fee is due at the time of registration. You may contact our office at (803)822-3659 for current rates.

The CLEP Test fee is set by the test provider (the Chauncey Group). The fee is made payable to CLEP and must be in the form of a credit card, personal check, money order, or cashier’s check. This fee is due on the day of the examination. The CLEP test fee is subject to change.

Can I get a refund if I choose not to test?
The fees for CLEP exams are paid in two parts – the registration fee and the test fee. For the MTC CLEP CBT Test Center, the registration fee for each exam is a non-refundable fee. You may contact our office at (803)822-3659 for current rates. Other individual test centers should have a similar policy concerning the registration fee. The test fee for a CLEP exam is due once the exam has been distributed and viewed by the examinee. Other than the up front cost of registration, examinees only pay for exams that they take when the examinee is being tested.

When will I receive my test score (or credits)?
An unofficial copy of the test score will be given to the examinee within minutes of completing the exam with the exception of the English Composition with Essay Examination. It is recommended that each examinee allow 3 to 4 weeks for official scores to reach your institution. Any credits for exams requiring essays may be delayed until the standardize scores are evaluated at the college level. Most colleges and universities require an official copy of your scores before the awarding of credits for an examination.
