Student Support Services

TRIO Student Support Services is a federally funded academic program for students enrolled at MTC who meet specific criteria.  Key services include personalized academic advisement, mentoring, and transfer assistance to a four-year college.


  • 1st generation students (students' parents do not have  a four-year college degree)
  • Students with limited family income (typically Pell grant recipients qualify)
  • Individuals with a diagnosed disability registered with the MTC Counseling Services office
  • MTC students enrolled in an Associate Degree program and enrolled in college-level classes (ENG 100, MAT 101, no reading class required)


  • Individualized academic/transfer advisement and career counseling
  • Preparation for and assistance with transferring to a four-year school
  • College tours of four-year colleges
  • Assistance with applying for financial aid and scholarships
  • Individualized workshops restricted to SSS students on topics such as time management, transfer tips, math anxiety, and creating a college budget
