Am I Eligible?

Federal Requirements

Students interested in joining Student Support Services must meet federal eligibility requirements as well as program requirements.  Please read the statements below and see if you can answer “YES” to any one of the statements:

  • I am a first generation college student.  (This means that neither of my parents has earned a 4-year college degree.)
  • and/or

  • I am a student with limited family income. (If you receive a Pell grant at MTC you will probably meet this criteria – you can also ask a SSS staff for specific income details.)
  • and/or

  • I am a student with a diagnosed disability. (In order to meet this criteria, you must be registered with the MTC Counseling and Career Services office.)

If you answered “YES” to any of the above statements, you are federally eligible to be considered for services from Student Support Services.  (Note:  you only need to meet one eligibility area, not all three.)

Program Requirements

I am an enrolled student at Midlands Technical College, and I am seeking an associate’s degree*.  I am taking or have enrolled in college-level classes (English 100 and Math 101 level or higher.)

If you have one of the federal eligibilities and you meet the program requirements, we would love to have you apply to our program.  We look forward to hearing from you and if you have any questions pertaining to eligibility requirements, please don’t hesitate to give us a call or email us at

Students who are pursuing any of the health science programs at MTC must be officially accepted into the program and enrolled in their first clinical classes in order to be considered for Student Support Services.
