The student will be able to give the common names for the Kingdom Plantae & Protista as listed on pg. 558 of Biology text and pg. 945-946.
The student will know the classification of the Kingdoms Protista, Monera, Fungi and Plantae.
The student will be able to identify the structures of the Paramecium model as given in figure 2.2.
The student will be able to identify and give the function of structures in the diagrams in figures:
1-2 Bacteria
2-1 Amoeba
2-3 Trypanosoma
3-1 Rhizopus
3-2 Mushroom
3-3 Lichen-identify as crustose, fructose, or foliose
4-2, 4-3, 4-4 Moss
5-1, 5-2, 5-3 Fern
The student will know some of the common human diseases caused by Protista:
Malaria — Plasmodia
African Sleeping Sickness — Trypanosoma
Giardiasis — Giardia
Dissentery — Amoeba
Toxomoplasmosis — Toxoplasma gondu
The student will know which cell organelles are only found in plants (pg. 62-63):
Central vacuole, chloroplasts, cell wall
The student will be able to identify moss as either archegonium or antheridium.
The student will be able to name a genus of Blue-Green Algae (Cyanobacteria).
The student will know which Phylum of Protozoa has the greatest species diversity.
