- Know the criteria for distinguishing a substance
from a mixture, and a homogenous mixture from a heterogeneous mixture.
Know that homogeneous mixtures are solutions. Be able to give examples of
substances and both kinds of mixtures. Be able to identify a material as
one of these three and explain your answer.

chemical properties and be able to identify a process as physical or
chemical.
- Substances are either elements or compounds.
