PSY 201 General Psychology: This course provides a comprehensive overview of the major topics that comprise scientific psychology. Attention is given to each of the major theoretical approaches across multiple topics including human development, learning, memory, relationships, social functioning, health, and psychological disorders. Class time is a blend of lecture, discussion, and interactive activities. Evaluation of student performance is based on written work and exam grades. Course Web Site

 

PSY 212 Abnormal Psychology: This course takes an in-depth examination of each of the major categories of mental disorders. Students are encouraged to develop an understanding of the diagnostic criteria and theories of etiology for each disorder, as well as a familiarity with the major treatment approaches. Topics covered include anxiety and mood disorders, psychotic disorders, disorders of memory, personality disorders, disorders of childhood, and psychophysiological disorders. Class time is a combination of lecture, discussion, and multimedia activities. Student evaluation is based on written work and exam grades.

 

PSY 218 Behavior Modification: This course provides an in-depth study of behavioral techniques designed to promote human change. The course focuses on operant conditioning methods, and augments those with both classical conditioning, and cognitive principles. Students are encouraged through exercises and assignments to develop an increased competency in designing and implemented behavior change programs that can be used in a wide variety of human service settings. Student evaluation is based on written work and exam grades.
