Greetings!. My name is Bill Hines and I am a member of the full-time faculty in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences. I have been teaching at Midlands since 1984, and my primary teaching responsibilities include the Principles of Economics courses (ECO 210- Macroeconomics and ECO 211 - Microeconomics). I serve as faculty advisor for students enrolled in the Associate in Arts curriculum. My office is located on Beltline Campus in Wade Martin Hall, Room 407. My office phone is 738-7755 and my E-mail address is HINESB@MIDLANDSTECH.EDU. I was born and raised in a small town in Western Pennsylvania, attended Geneva College for a year after high school, and then enlisted in the Navy. Most of my naval career, both enlisted and commissioned, was spent aboard nuclear submarines. While on active duty, I had the opportunity to complete my B.S. in Economics at Charleston Southern University. Following my naval career, I earned the Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law and was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1984. In 1986, I earned the M.A. in Economics from U.S.C. I have been married to my best friend, Paula, for almost 43 years. We have two grown children and five grandchildren. My hobbies include running, gardening, and fishing. Along with the privilege of sharing the classroom with our students, the thing I value most about my time at Midlands is the opportunity to meet students one-on-one; to learn where they have come from and where they dream of going. So stop by and chat awhile! Whether you are interested in law school or transfer into a four-year business or economics curriculum, I'd love to have the privilege of hearing your dreams and plans, and helping you map a course for the future. |
