Instructor Information:

Course Description: This course introduces the use of microcomputer applications.  The course is broken into five functional areas:

1)    Microcomputer operating system – Microsoft Windows XP

2)    Word processing – Microsoft Word 2007

3)    Spreadsheets – Microsoft Excel 2007

4)    Database – Microsoft Access 2007

5)    Presentation software – Microsoft PowerPoint 2007


Orientation Information:  This course will be conducted on-line via the Internet using WebCT and will begin on January 14, 2007.  Only one on-campus session is required at the end of the semester for the final exam.  This is not a self pace course.  Course work will be assigned weekly and submitted online via WebCT.  Students will have one week to complete each assignment.  Late assignments will not be accepted.  Students are to establish their WebCT accounts prior to January 14, 2007 (see instructions below).  Students MUST have access to a microcomputer with Microsoft Office 2007 Professional software loaded (this includes:  Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).  The textbook includes a 180-day trial version of Microsoft Office 2007 Professional software.  Additionally, the Academic Success Centers on both campuses have computers available to complete the assignments.  The e-mail system within WebCT will be the primary form of communication for this course and should be checked multiple times a week.

Grading/Testing:  75% of the course grade will be based on weekly course assignments, assigned and submitted via WebCT.  The final exam will be a “hand-on” open book exam administered at the Beltline Testing Center and will be 25% of the course grade.  (Date/time of the exam will be provided at a later date).

·        Enter your WebCT User Name and Password and click the “Register” button

·        Once you have added this course, return to MyWebCT and click on the course name to access this course
