Real Transfer: MTC partnerships provide seamless transfer for students aspiring to earn four-year degree
Recent partnerships with South Carolina State University and Columbia College highlight the many options available for higher education that begin at MTC. As one of the largest providers of transfer students to colleges and universities in South Carolina, MTC’s Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees are ideal for students looking to transfer to a four-year school.
South Carolinians looking to begin their higher education journeys have more options thanks to Midlands Technical College (MTC) partnerships like those with South Carolina State University (SC State) and Columbia College.
In April, MTC and SC State formalized a bridge agreement that provides graduates from MTC’s Associate in Arts and Associate in Science programs and some MTC career programs direct transfer of credits to SC State.
“Midlands Technical College is happy to partner with SC State to create an additional pathway for our students to achieve higher levels of education,” said MTC President Dr. Ronald L. Rhames. “This new bridge agreement allows MTC students in the Associate in Arts and Science programs and some of our career programs like Marketing, Business, and Accounting the opportunity to start building important connections with the university.”
In May, MTC and Columbia College formalized a bridge agreement that allows a seamless transition into Columbia College for MTC students who aspire to earn a four-year degree.
“We want to do everything possible to provide our students a clear pathway to the next step in their educational process,” said Rhames.
Students can save up to $40,000 per year when they earn their associate degrees at MTC before transferring. MTC has agreements with Benedict College, Claflin University, Coker College, College of Charleston, Columbia College, Lander University, Newberry College, South Carolina State University, and the University of South Carolina.
“Together with these colleges and universities, we are providing students throughout Columbia and the Midlands more educational options and opportunities, and we are providing a clear and seamless path to achieving their education and career goals,” said Rhames.
