What is MTC Health Tracks?

MTC Health Tracks is a special program designed to help people who are interested in a career in “Health Care” gain knowledge and skills for a job in one of several exciting and challenging professions. Participants receive individual attention from caring and competent counselors, tutors, and faculty who specialize in assisting students with career selection, planning, and individual tracking activities at Midlands Technical College, an institution recognized for its excellence in training health care providers. A variety of Health Track career opportunities are available at MTC. For example, training is available for providing service as a Certified Nurse Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Emergency Medical Technologist, Patient Care Technician, Cardiac Care Technician, Phlebotomist, Radiographer, Surgical Technologist, Respiratory Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Medical Coder and Biller, and many other health care areas offered at MTC.

Does participating in Health Tracks mean I have to stop pursuing my nursing
or health science degree?

Not at all. In fact many participants find their Health Tracks coursework and hands-on experience give them an edge when it comes to succeeding in their degree program. Participants can continue meeting with their academic advisor and taking credit courses in their declared program of study. All students waiting for a class start date will keep their places on the waiting list.

How long does it take?

Health Tracks counselors will recommend MTC Continuing Education and Academic programs, some of which take only six to nine weeks to complete. After finishing your training, a Health Tracks counselor will continue to advise and assist you in your career progression.

How much does it cost?

You'll begin with a free assessment to help determine which careers best fit your interests and abilities. As usual, students should expect to pay for tuition, books and other supplies related to courses. However, in many cases, qualified students participating in certain grant program areas may be eligible for assistance with tuition, purchasing textbooks/supplies and the cost of required certification exams. Our counselors can provide information concerning financial assistance.
