Course Description:   This course includes the following topics: operations with signed numbers; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with algebraic expressions; factoring; techniques for solving linear and fractional equations; and an introduction to graphing.

Prerequisite: Math 100, RDG 032 or equivalent placement test scores

Course Requirements:      A hybrid course is a combination of traditional classroom teaching and online teaching.  A course schedule will be provided the first day of class.  Most weeks we will meet two days and other weeks we may only meet once.  MyMathLab/CourseCompass is required for the internet portion of the course.  All graded assignments (homework, quizzes, and tests) will be done on this software.  The homework and quiz assignments can be done at anytime, from any computer with internet access.  All students have access to the computer lab on campus if they do not have internet at home.  Tests must be taken in the testing center on campus.

Orientation Information:        The course orientation will be held the first day of class.

Textbook:         We use the same textbook that is used in MAT 101 and MAT 102: Elementary and Intermediate Algebra 2nd Ed. by George Woodbury. You need to be sure your text includes a Student Access Kit for MyMathLab/CourseCompass. Look for the texts designated as “hybrid” in the bookstore. To use MyMathLab/CourseCompass, you will need the access code from the Access Kit along with the Course ID I will provide.   The textbook is recommended, but not required.  MyMathLab/Coursecompass is required!

The Access Code works for any MyMathLab/CourseCompass class. Once it has been used, it is only good for the same textbook. So if you used MyMathLab/CourseCompass in  MAT 101 or 102, you do not need a new code. If you used MyMathLab/CourseCompass in MAT 100, you do need a new Access Code. Buying online access costs $70.00 without the Student Access Kit. You can get more information at www.coursecompass.com

A scientific or graphing calculator is required for this course.

Course Withdrawal
If you choose to withdraw and desire a refund from an online course, you must complete and submit a Drop/Add/Withdrawal Form. These forms are available at the Student Information Center in the Academic Center on Airport Campus or in the Wade Martin building on Beltline Campus, at the Records office on both Campuses, or in most academic offices. Withdrawal through the fifth day of the term is considered a “drop” and will not show on your official transcript. Withdrawal from the sixth day of the term through midterm results in a grade of “W”. If you withdraw after midterm, you will receive a grade of “W” if you are passing the course at the time of withdrawal or a grade of “WF” if failing the course on the date of withdrawal.
