7.4 – Adding and Subtracting Rationals with Unlike Denominators

Adding / Subtracting with unlike denominators -

            Steps:

            1.)  Find the Least Common Denominator (LCD) by factoring all denominators and identify each expression that is a factor of one or more denominators.

            2.)  Rewrite each rational to have this new denominator.

            3.)  Add / Subtract the rationals.

            4.)  Simplify.
