Subset –

            If every element in set A is also in set B, then set A is a subset of set B.

Proper Subset –

            If  and sets A and B are not equal, then set A is a proper subset of set B.

Number of Subsets and Proper Subsets –

             = the number of subsets

             = the number of proper subsets
