12.2 – Measures of Central Tendency

 

Mean –   “average”

 

            Steps:

                        1.)  Add together all of the data items.

                        2.)  Divide the sum by the number of data items.

 

 

Median –        “middle”

 

            Steps:

                        1.)  Rewrite the data set in increasing order.

                        2.)  Count the number of data items,

                            if odd, the median is the data item in the middle.

                            if even, the median is the average of the two data items in the middle

 

 

Mode –   the data item that repeats the most
