LIFE Scholarship
Enhancements
Scholarship Criteria for all
Students
-
Citizen of the United States
of America.
-
South Carolina resident or
parent/parents who were residents at time of student's
High School graduation
-
No drug or alcohol or felony
convictions.
-
He/she has not been legally
judged to be a delinquent, been convicted of or pled guilty to
any felonies or any second or subsequent alcohol/drug related
offenses under the laws of South Carolina, or any other state or
under the laws of the United States.
-
Graduated from high school or
completed a home school program as prescribed by law.
-
Enrolled in an eligible
institution as a full-time degree-seeking undergraduate
student.
-
Enrolled in at least 12
non-developmental/non-remedial hours of coursework (101 level or above).
Entering Freshmen
-
Earn a cumulative 3.0 grade point
average (GPA) based on the SC Uniform Grading Policy (UGP) upon
high school graduation. -
Be
enrolled full-time (courses below 101 can not be counted
towards full-time enrollment.)
-
Your final high school
transcript must reflect a 3.0 cumulative
GPA based on the SC Uniform
Grading Policy (UGP) and must be received by the college prior to a final L.I.F.E. Scholarship award.
Continuing
Students
-
Maintain a 3.0 cumulative
college grade point average on a 4.0 scale; and
-
Be enrolled in at least 12
hours of non-developmental credits
-
Complete a minimum of 30
credit hours, excluding Developmental (below 101 level) and
remedial course work during the previous award year -
(Fall and Spring). L.I.F.E Scholarship
is not offered during the summer and L.I.F.E. eligible
students do not qualify for S.C. Lottery Tuition Assistance in the
same award year.

Not to exceed a maximum of two
terms for a one-year educational program or a maximum of four
terms for an associate's degree program. -
All students must submit all
transcripts from all other S.C. Colleges or Universities to be
considered for L.I.F.E. renewal.
Earning Eligibility
-
Students who
were not initially eligible upon high school
graduation may earn
eligibility for the LIFE Scholarship if they:
1. Meet all general eligibility
requirements;
2. Earn at least a 3.0 "LIFE GPA" by the
end of the first academic year;
3. Meet the annual credit hour requirement
by the end of the academic year based on initial
college enrollment.

A student who
has earned a GED diploma may be eligible to earn
the LIFE Scholarship at the end of the first
academic year of a non-GED program. The
student must meet the annual credit hour
requirement (or equivalent) and a 3.0 "LIFE GPA"
at the end of the first academic year. To
qualify for subsequent years, the student must
meet all eligibility requirements.

A student who
has graduated from a home schooled program, that
is accredited by an association not
approved by the state of South Carolina may be
eligible to earn the LIFE Scholarship at the
end of the first academic year based on initial
college enrollment. The student must
meet the annual credit hour requirement ( or
equivalent) and a 3.0 "LIFE GPA" at the end of
the first academic year. The student may
also qualify in subsequent years by meeting all
eligibility requirements.

Students who
initially enroll in college mid-year (spring
term) may be eligible to receive the LIFE
Scholarship the next academic year, if the
student earns a minimum of fifteen credit hours
and earns a cumulative 3.0 "LIFE GPA" at the end
of the academic year. For subsequent
years, the student must meet the annual credit
hour requirement for renewal.
Transferring
Students
-
Transfer students must comply
with all standards for continued eligibility as defined above
for continuing students, including the cumulative 3.0 LIFE grade
point average earned at eligible
institutions.

Students transferring from one
institution to a participating institution, who may be
eligible to receive a L.I.F.E. Scholarship, must submit an
official transcript from the transferring institution.
This transcript must provide evidence of current
credit hours earned, and cumulative grade point average.

Students who received the
scholarship and transferred mid-year to this institution may
be eligible to receive the scholarship for the Spring term.
The student must submit an official document from the
transferring institution to verify that he/she met the
requirements for continued eligibility at the beginning of the
academic year prior to the transfer.
Length of
Eligibility
-
The LIFE Scholarship is
limited to two (2) semesters for a one-year certificate
or diploma program and four (4) semesters for a
two-year program. The availability of terms for scholarship
funding is based on the time of initial college enrollment.

Students may not receive the
L.I.F.E. scholarship if they have earned an Associate or
Bachelors degree. Furthermore, students cannot receive the
scholarship if they have earned a certificate or diploma and
have not matriculated into an associate program of study.
How to receive your L.I.F.E.
Scholarship Award:

An
award notification will be sent to those who qualify.

Return the L.I.F.E.
Scholarship Affidavit to the Student Financial Services Office. The
Affidavit will automatically be mailed to those who qualify.
