The Nursing Department is pleased to be able to offer a merit opportunity for nursing admission three times a year... in FEBRUARY 2015 for the January 2016 start date; in JUNE 2015 for the May 2016 start date, and in OCTOBER 2015 for the August 2016 start date.

Merit Workshops to assist students in completing the Merit Nursing Admissions Checklist will be held in May. These workshops are not required, but are designed to help prospective merit applicants understand how merit admission works and how to properly complete the Merit Admission Application. These workshops will be held :

  • May 6, 2015 at 4:30 p.m. in the Airport Student Center, second floor, room 225
  • May 13, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Airport Student Center, second floor, room 225

Please be on time and bring a copy of the June Merit Nursing Admissions Checklist with you. The meeting will last approximately one hour.

Criminal Background Checks and Drug Screenings

Students entering nursing are required to undergo both a criminal background check and drug screening. The Nursing Department has contracted with an agency to conduct the background check and to coordinate the drug screening. As the start date for the clinical sequence approaches, students will be mailed detailed information regarding this process.

Information Sessions

Do you have questions and want to talk to someone in person? Information sessions are held the first and third Wednesdays of every month (except December) on the Airport Campus in the Health Science Building, room 141 at 2:00 pm. The sessions usually last an hour and a half.

Come hear how to get started at MTC in nursing.  Included is the process for admission, and information about the curriculum and critical progression policies.  Individual questions will be answered at the end of the presentation.

No pre-registration required. No children allowed.
