ACADEMIC INFORMATION
Curriculum Requirements
Students who remain enrolled from
semester to semester progressing consistently through the curriculum under which they
entered may remain under the guidelines set forth in the curriculum in effect during the
year they entered for four (4) years. Should
any changes be instituted in the curriculum, such students have the option of changing to
the new curriculum if they so desire.
Students who terminate enrollment for
any reason (other than the summer term, which is not considered a regular semester) must
meet the curriculum requirements which are in effect at such time as they may apply for
and be readmitted to the program. Should any
deficits then exist, such students are under obligation to make up those deficits in order
to qualify for graduation.
A minimum of 67 semester credits is
required for graduation, to be obtained as outlined in the curriculum.
Grades
The Human Services Department requires
that Human Services students earn grade of C or better in all required or
elective courses. A minimum cumulative GPA of
C (2.0) is required for graduation.
Incompletes
College policy required that completion
of work in a course in which a grade of Incomplete (I) was issued be
accomplished by the last day of the following semester. If work is not completed and turned in by this date, the I will
be changed to an F.
Grading Scale
The grading scale for all courses
labeled HUS is as follows:
| Points
Range: |
Grade: |
| 93-100 |
A |
| 85-92 |
B |
| 75-84 |
C |
| 67-74 |

Status
Departmental status is not affected by
the number of hours carried each semester, as long as the student remains enrolled. Certain other offices, however, such as the
Veterans Affairs or Financial Aid offices, may require students to maintain certain
course loads in order to remain eligible for benefits.
According to a 1999 ruling by the State
VA Office, Supervised Field Placements can count toward eligibility for VA funds.
Class Attendance
Attendance in classes is strictly
regulated. As of August 28, 1995, the college
for each course requires a mandatory minimum attendance of 75% of all class meetings. Individual departments or individual instructors
however may require even stricter attendance. If
such is the policy, the information should be so stated in the course outline for that
class. The Social and Behavioral Science
Department, for example, requires an 85% attendance rate. Absences beyond the maximum allowed in a given course MAY result in a
grade of WF which is a punitive grade, counting as a zero in the GPR.
Course Syllabi
Course syllabi are to be given to each
student in each course for which he/she is enrolled. The syllabi includes course objectives and requirements, testing
information, reading assignments, and attendance policies. Students are held responsible for all material included in the course
syllabi.
Course Sequence
Please note that courses are offered
regularly only in certain semesters. It is
recommended that students maintain the prescribed sequence. If, however, the student attends part-time or must repeat a course and is
consequently out of this recommended sequence, it is the responsibility of the student
to plan, with the assistance of his/her advisor, his/her course selections for future
semesters in advance. This planning is
imperative in order for the student to graduate at an anticipated date.
