NOTICE OF JOB OPENING
POSITION: Adjunct Electrical Instructor
DEPARTMENT: Industrial Technologies
HOURS: Day and Evening (TBD)
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Electrical instructor needed to support and assist in developing and maintaining laboratory courses and related activities emphasizing electricity, electronics, blueprint reading, PLC, electrical theory, and motor controls. Responsibilities include overseeing , developing, and maintaining a comprehensive safe program; assisting students and faculty in using electrical and mechanical training equipment and related software; ensuring the readiness of facilities for class activities; teaching laboratory classes ; evaluation and reporting of students’ progress and laboratory performance; assign and develop student projects; creating and delivering lecture demonstrations; giving occasional class lectures/tutorial sessions; ensuring smooth and safe operation of the teaching space; overseeing stockroom and related employee(s); and other duties as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of an associate’s degree in electrical or electronic engineering technical area, journeyman's or master electrical license and at least two years of experience in electrical construction or maintenance technician field or a bachelor’s degree and five years’ experience in the electrical field. A successful candidate must possess the ability to work effectively with others in creatively solving practical problems, be familiar with the fundamentals of electrical theory and electronics, able to use discretion when dealing with confidential information/issues.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION: Incumbent must enjoy teaching undergraduate students one-on-one with simple-to-advanced electrical problems.
SALARY: Competitive and determined by evaluating qualifications SC State Classification System.
