POSITION: Administrative Office Technology Instructor

DEPARTMENT: Information Systems Technology (IST)

HOURS: Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; Friday-8:00 am-1:30 p.m.

LOCATION: Airport/Beltline Campus

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: To serve as an Instructor within the Information System Technology Department, primarily teaching courses in the Administrative Office Technology program and in related certificate programs; participates in curriculum development and revision; assists with academic advising; evaluates students’ progress; keeps accurate records and submits pertinent information on students; participates in faculty meetings and attends college functions; remains active in information technology organizations and attends workshops and other educational offerings in order to continue to upgrade teaching; follows institutional policies, procedures and authority; assists in special projects and maintains good working relations with supervisor and peers; may be required to teach classes at multiple campuses and off-campus sites.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Doctorate or Master’s degree in computing technology or a Master’s degree in a related discipline with concentration in Administrative Office computing (to include a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline). Knowledge and competency in the field of office systems technology education, administrative medical assisting/medical assisting experience preferred. Successful office systems and/or medical-related teaching experience (preferred postsecondary). Occupational (non-teaching) experience in appropriate related area.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Three (3) years post-secondary teaching experience. Three years’ experience with Medical Business Records to include ICD-9/10 coding, insurance claims processing, and establishing, organizing, maintaining/filing patient medical records/electronic health records (EHR).
