POSITION: Economics Instructor (2 Positions)
DEPARTMENT: Social and Behavioral Sciences
HOURS: Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m. Ė 5:00 p.m.; Friday-8:00 am-1:30 p.m.
LOCATION: Beltline Campus
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: To carry out duties and responsibilities of a faculty member teaching Economics in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department. Conducts class discussions, lectures, or other appropriate leaning activities in courses assigned; provides students with course documentations; demonstrates effective interaction skills; demonstrates related instruction/materials to course objectives; uses examples and illustrations; grades and responds to studentís assignments. Is able to use online platforms for distance learning instruction such as hybrid and online courses. Designs course and curriculum as needed; reviews and, as needed, designs new programs; updates current courses, prepares syllabi; participates in the development revision of other instructional material, such as transparencies and handouts; remains current in teaching field; assesses effectiveness of courses and programs. Participates in the collection and analysis of data pertaining to student learning outcomes and competencies; student development, academic advising, recruitment and placement. Supports and contributes to the college by participating on committees and /or performing public service for the college. Participates in activities that will develop professional and personal competencies to improve the faculty memberís knowledge, skills, and proficiency in their present position. Manages classroom, keeps office hours, and submits reports and records in a timely manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorís or Masterís degree in one or more of the teaching disciplines of Social and Behavioral Sciences: Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology or Geography or Masterí Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in one or more of the aforementioned disciplines. A Ph.D. is preferred.
