LIFE INSURANCE

Basic State Life

$3,000 coverage provided automatically on each employee who is enrolled in the State Health or HMO plans.

 

SC Retirement System Group Life

Death benefits that equals one year’s annual salary.  Payable if employee has been employed in active status for one full year at the time of death.

 

Dependent Life Insurance

Life insurance coverage for eligible dependents.  Employees can elect up to $20,000 for spouse coverage and up to $10,000 for each child.  No medical evidence of good health is required if enrollment is within 31 days of employment.

Standard Life

$10,000 Basic Life insurance provided by Midlands Technical College on each permanent employee at no cost to the employee.  MTC employees may purchase additional life insurance up to 4 times their current salary and life insurance for their dependents

 

Optional Life

Term life insurance with policy face values ranging from $20,000 to $165,000.  Premiums vary depending on face value of policy and age of employee.  Level of coverage varies depending on salary
