GENERAL RADIOGRAPHY

DESCRIPTION:
A program designed to meet the needs of the Radiation and Safety act which requires one year of Radiologic education. Graduates are prepared to work in mainly Doctor's offices and can perform radiographic procedures of the chest, abdomen, upper-lower extremities, spines and skull. Students will be prepared for the National Board. Exam. Class and clinical rotations will involve approximately 40 hours per week Monday-Friday.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of 39 semester credit hours is required for graduation.
Completion of the General Radiography curriculum is required for graduation. A minimum grade of "C" must be attained in all radiology and science courses.
PROGRAM NOTES:
- A pre-admission interview is required prior to acceptance.
- General Radiography courses must be taken in sequence.
- Course substitutes must be approved by the program director.
- Advanced placement will be determined by the program director.

- Prior to an interview a Program Information Session must be attended as well as the prescribed clinical observations. These required sessions will be assigned by the program.
- Students are required to purchase uniforms. Students must also purchase malpractice insurance costing approximately $4.00 per semester.
- Students join the SC Society of Radiologic Technologists at $20.00 for membership.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification at the time of entry.
- A successful physical exam is required prior to starting.
- If possible students should take AHS 102 and BIO 112 prior to entry.
