INFANT/TODDLER
Certificate in Public Service (ITD)
DESCRIPTION:
A program designed for individuals entering the field of child care and early education as well as those who are already employed and wish to upgrade their knowledge and skills.
BEGINNING SEMESTERS: Fall/Spring/Summer
CAMPUS:Airport and Beltline (day, evening, and weekend classes)
PLACEMENT TEST SCORES REQUIRED TO ENROLL IN CURRICULUM COURSES:
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of 18 semester hours is required with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better.
PROGRAM NOTES:
- Students must successfully complete 18 hours of required Early Childhood Development courses.
- Students enrolling in ECD 107 must complete SLED and DSS forms prior to enrollment; Forms are available from the Program Director.
- The majority of ECD students in the Infant/Toddler Certificate will qualify for TEACH Scholarships, Teach will only pay for one class the first semester and two classes the second semester.
- Although TEACH will pay for three classes for the third semester, it is not recommended for students employed at least 30 hours in their regular child care or early education jobs. This is especially true since the third semester includes additional field placement in an off-site facility to work with infants and toddlers with special needs.
- The fourth semester will include six hours per week off site in a nationally accredited infant/toddler program. This course needs to stand alone since most students will need to balance these hours with their 30 hours at their regular programs.
- Traditional students will be able to finish this program in two semesters.
